Funny Girl!

Jocelyn is hilarious. I've been bad about writing funny things she has said lately, such a bummer.

She was eating a snack she had left over from school today and was trying to get every last crumb. I said, "Jocelyn, if you are still hungry, you can get an apple or something." She said, "Umm...I think I'll go find the "or something"!"

Later, she disappeared and was super quiet. I was going to go find her when she came out of her room and said, "I'm done hiding now." I said, "Why were you hiding?" She said, "I was trying to scare the heck out of Dad!" (He wasn't going to be home for another hour, so good thing she gave up!)

Jocelyn's Last Day of Kindergarten.

We couldn't have asked for a better kindergarten teacher for Jocelyn! She had such a fun year and loved school. Her teacher, Mr. Bunch, scheduled field trips for the kids almost every month! He loved to joke around and taught the kids the term "old school." They would say, "that's old school, Mr. Bunch!" Her E.A., Mrs. Herrera, was awesome as well. She is very sweet and took time to really get to know the kids and their interests. Her teachers had a party the last day of school. We all had lunch together and they handed out some awards. Jocelyn received a friendship award.

Best Friends!

Sunset

This summer, we had really bad fires in New Mexico and in Arizona. The Arizona fires were so bad that the smoke and ash came to New Mexico. Sometimes it looked like it was snowing and the smoke was so bad it seemed like the fire was in our neighborhood! The air quality was extremely poor, obviously, which made outdoor activities a no go! Anyway, because of it, the sun looked RED. It was pretty and spooky at the same time!

Cheer Camp 2011

Jocelyn looks forward to Gracen's cheer camp every year! She is kind of shy, but she always knows the routines and the cheers very well!

No Training Wheels!

I'm finding a lot of pictures that I haven't put on my blog, so I'm kind of playing catch up. Jocelyn started riding her bike without training wheels this summer. She was SO frustrated in Texas when we took her training wheels off, but the next time I took her to practice, she DID IT with ONE PUSH! So funny. I started her off on the grass and I think it helped her to not worry about falling on the pavement. The next day, she was racing with the neighbor boys! I feel bad we didn't take them off sooner, but oh well.

Cantering video

Jocelyn was the only one at her time slot today for lessons! HEAVEN! :) Private lesson for the price of a group lesson. I think we have decided to work on getting her in a show. Exciting!!

Naughty!!!

One evening, I noticed Zap's back had two big white spots. I pet him and it looked like he had just lost his hair. I got nervous thinking, "I wonder if he is sick and is losing his hair!" Then I looked over at Jocelyn who looked VERY guilty... Jocelyn Kay! It was then I remembered her bringing me the scissors to cut out the hair ties in her hair and then taking them in the hall and I heard "snip snip". At the time, I didn't think anything of it b/c she has NEVER cut her hair or anything else that's not suppose to be cut. She was in big trouble!!!

Looking the Part!

I have posted a lot of horseback riding pictures lately, but I couldn't resist. My Mom bought Jocelyn a new English riding outfit and she looks so cute!! I think she feels so confident in it too b/c she was riding exceptionally well on Saturday and says it was so comfortable! Such a plus! We wanted those really tall boots, but the girl at the store said they are very uncomfortable and are used for shows. Bummer. Someday we'll have to do a show!

This is Bonnie. Jocelyn has had a lot of fun riding her and Bonnie has a cute trot and always holds her tail up. Miss Emily calls her a "real" horse and calls her "zippy". Thankfully Jocelyn has great control of her!

Riding video

This is kind of funny for me to say, but oh well! I love when new people come to lessons (usually older people) and act like they know everything about riding and then Jocelyn out rides them! This was one weekend where it was just Jocelyn and one other rider and she was older and acted overly confident. When the lady got out there, she had zero control of the horse (her own fault, not the horses) and Jocelyn was being made the example! It makes me laugh...in a humble sort of way, of course!
