We had a great time in Red River at the Motorcycle Rally. I wasn't sure what to expect at a motorcycle rally, but it was a lot of fun! Red River is GORGEOUS and there was lots of shopping, good fair-type food and we also had good company with us! Graham and Grandpa drove up on their motorcycles (of course) and my Mom, Jocelyn and I drove our car up there. We stayed in Taos and had fun swimming at the hotel, walking around Taos and hanging out. Thursday we drove up to Red River and stopped off here to walk to the lake...
Doesn't look far to the lake, right?!? Well maybe it wouldn't have been IF we had found the trail...
So we started hiking through the long grass and bushes...
We kept walking and found the stream. Of course, Jocelyn took this opportunity to throw sticks and dandelions in the water. Cute girl.
Then we decided to follow the stream to the lake...bad idea.
We ended up in the marsh with soaking shoes and swarms of bugs!! YUCK. Of course, they all ended up by me b/c I had used hairspray that morning. So we ended our hike deciding to head back to the car...oh and 3/4's of the way back, Graham found the TRAIL. Ahhh. Good memories!
We continued up the road to Red River and spent a few hours Thursday afternoon walking around. The vendors were setting up all the tents because the rally officially started Thursday night. We had a great lunch and walked around until we got tired of the rain.
Then we headed over to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge.
Second day in Red River
On the drive back to our hotel, we saw this Memorial Day tribute they had put up. A beautiful reminder of all those men and women from New Mexico who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for us.
We had a fabulous weekend! Thank you MiMi and Grandpa! We should go back soon!
A couple more pics...
